Grey Eye 02:54
[Instrumental]
2.
Elijah: There….. Hanging laughter like the morning dew Young boy coming into view. Standing at salute. Saiko: Mr. Elijah, be my eyes, help me see through the dark. Elijah: You’re a little beaten meadowlark, And I almost feel bad for you, but I’m too far through. Run away (Saiko: Bye Bye)….Why do you turn heel and run away? If it’s that way (Saiko: Bye Bye)….Why come at all little child? Little child…
3.
Elijah: Stumbling over creeping vines, Searching for a time that’s mine. Wilting wings and tattered clothes, On my way to no one knows. Coming noise and going song. Cheers and laughter: “Come along.” Light in forest magnified, Let me take a look inside.
4.
Raamah: Come one, come all, welcome Here in the House of Raamah Look here, look there, everywhere a’ Raucous and Bacchus, oh stop us you won’t! Come and sit down, have yourself a brandy We aim to please [ Jester] – innocent [Raamah] --- dandy! We’ll pin you down, [Jester] – spin you round and round! [Raamah] Until your lips can’t form sound! [Raamah (spoken)] Now what we have here is a failure to communicate [Jester] Too much at stake? [Raamah] Oh shut your face! If you can find it, you get my key, but either way, I BREAK YOUR KNEES. Come on, get out, go now. Look here’s a trick, I’ll show you how. Toss the key up, and just your luck. A massive explosion of pink pollen potion, and rattling, shackling, cackling fun. Scamper, Scamper, what a pretty dancer! Your lungs are choked [Jester] in a curious cancer. [Raamah] My eyes like gas swirling on the floor and [Both] Now we’ll see you everywhere… [Raamah] Now search for my eyes and I’ll give you a prize A wonderful key with no earthly ties. [Jester] But wait, what’s that? Back up, back up. [Raamah] I can’t believe it but Both: TIME’S UP! [Elijah] The chandelier [Raamah] How queer! [Elijah] Mice spinning it round like a hamster wheel [Raamah] A Crash [Elijah] And Ash [Raamah] Eyes in the walls that are closing so small. [Elijah] Running from wall to wall in fits. [Raamah] I’ll catch you and crack you and SMASH YOU TO BITS [Elijah] As I look – to the skies – something catches my eyes! Glimmer of light and lots of mice Dropping here before my eyes I pick up the key and then I see, dusty pupil staring at me With one desperate thrust, his eyes dart and shut The ceiling flies off, I must scramble out [Raamah] NOOOOO, I am king, and I’ll clip your wing. You’ll never escape this prison ring. Don’t worry now, I’ll mute your sound, you’re almost drowned! [Elijah] I've escaped to the ground.
5.
[Elijah] Coughing pollen, Midnight moon that sears my wounds. Nerves uprooted, Wind pressed on me like a suit. And right in front of me: A flash of hair and heavy air. A helping hand she gave to me, And I feel free. Touching pink haze, Struggling up I turn my gaze. Vapor static, Eyes like holes and lips to hold. [Anita] My name is Anita I’d been lost and had enough. Then I wore this locket here, And soon I found you near… [Elijah] I want to help you, dear. [Anita] Then hug me, and hold me Along through the night [Elijah] I will but hold you, But don’t expect more. [Anita] That’s fine, just let my hands Find your raw wounds [Elijah] Oh how, your hands pull strings, Birthing two wings [Anita] I’ll take one wing, dear, Just you look away. [Elijah] Ripping off like paper cloth I bite through the pain. [Elijah] Too small for me to fly, But maybe over time I’ll try. [Anita] My little meadowlark, Just walk with me through the dark.
6.
[Elijah] Oh, A dense fog smothers every space, sucks thought without a trace. And fields and fields, an army, anorexic figures burnt to cinders. [Anita] The whites of their eyes turn to the heavens, but they’re never getting there. Shambles walking, they’ll keep stalking, they’ll keep stumbling aimlessly… [Elijah] The vultures , the vultures pick their bones. [Anita] Like burning fetus in the sun [Elijah] Become someone, become someone… [Anita] Don’t worry now, we’ve left them far behind. [Elijah] But now there’s new dark shadows, reaching, scraping, clawing for my mind.
7.
[Elijah] Umbrella head, spooling darkness of form. Laughing, mocking me. Fish in quicksand, bees in a hive. Multiply. Your eyes shine A boy inside, wandering child. I’ll take my key, to remember me. A clasp on my neck I cannot breathe. They’re choking me. I cannot breath.
8.
Shadow Swarm 03:35
[Elijah] Coughing, Coughing, still alive In desperate struggle to survive, Where have you gone? What have you done, Anita? Dragged on my back, Facing heart attack, I crash, I lash, I thrash I sink into a pool With cheers and jeers As a sink, wondering why… I know that I must…I must Accept that it’s just my time To die.
9.
[Elijah] Eclipsed by dark, Infinite pool. I search for a star, And I know, I will fail. Falling deeper, Screeching quiet. White splotch on a wall, And the world Turns me inside.
10.
White Room 02:39
[Elijah] White room, blank heart. Things come along, things fall apart. Standing so tall, four masks on a wall, Stare into space, like dolls. Pink mask is smiling, inviting me in. Grey-brimmed eyeholes, sucking my skin.
11.
Pink Mask 03:10
[Elijah] Mute sound at the sill. A pool of my blood. Falling from my veins. Submerge me with you. I tear at the mask But it clings like a viper. I smash my head against the wall, Again and again till the cracks form. The mask, it breaks in two. But it’s left Scars on my face that I’ll never erase In the light. The light… I try to resist. But what I miss is your kiss so remiss: Emotionless.
12.
Stone Mask 03:36
[Elijah] Mask of sinking Stone, I feel a- -lone the noise has Ceased At the window is a Lone boy at his Desk taking a Test to make the Grade Leaning over is a Long pair of bone Legs and hands giv- -ing him more, more Work Drugged certainty, Drowning apathy. Spooling little bit of thread, I hold. All my family and friends, unfold. As I imagine a lady in passion Collapsed on the floor. I reach out for more. And with her sobs growing louder, my heart ever prouder I wake, to make my escape.
13.
[Elijah] Mask of yellow, waiting for a fellow, On the wall with not a call, humble and waiting and strangely ebullient. Putting it on, I feel my troubles are all gone, I’m Loving living, for once thinking. Loose, gentle, eyes like slits Warm sunshine, room well lit. Out the window, time in a freeze. Fruits hanging, from Christmas trees. Dirt road stretching, yawning into winding infinity. There’s a boy playing with his old dog in the evergreens. I call out to him, and he responds to me. [Saiko] Mr. Elijah, you look like you’ve nearly died. [Elijah] Don’t you hurt my pride, you know how I’ve tried. [Saiko] My dog here [Elijah] Has a painful limp [Saiko] But she’s happy. Just try looking at things in a new light [Elijah] And with that he leaves me in the daylight.
14.
[Elijah] As I turn around (turn around) in sunlight they bask. New black crosses – all of my losses – ‘cross every mask. Through these snake slits, I simply can’t see, I need more. Gaping eyes of the blue mask call me to their whispering shore.
15.
[Elijah] Blue Haze Spotlights dance like moth balls, over the walls. Round a figure, formless, vapid, watery mannequin Standing on a Child’s chair. Wilting despair. Patient, warm noose. Against the current I scream in pain But this Blue mask, it swallows All of my words. So I Tear it off, and slam on The yellow mouth, And it Lifts its head Smile, amorphous sea foam. Stepping down, It’s coming now I’m trapped. Gripped by a need to control its smiling, Spasming hands put on the stone mask eyes. Mannequin opens his mouth as if to speak, But I’m too far to hear, so I let the mask steer Room goes grey, It squeezes its head. Scream, scream, SCREAM. Putting back on the yellow mouth: Who are you? Can you lead me through? Smile collects in crosshair eye. Slash through and collapse, stand content. Mimicking the mannequin I affix the yellow eye Staring blankly at the wall I look to see it fold into the daylight.

The Clearing 02:07
[Elijah] Standing in a clearing, Surrounded on all sides, Jellyfish tendril grasses Three times my size. Thin, white, pedestal About half my height, On it lies a key Swirling black and white. But I search for me, So I pass the key. Patient hand on my chest, Raven hair, raven eyes. [Girl from the weeds (Lucienne)] Let me see your weathered face Those feelings I’ll replace. [Elijah] She pulls at my mask, and I touch her hand, and… I pull the mask down, And shove her away. I know she has no right to stay, but I Could stay here forever: Be fooled by a yellow fawn. But I must take this one step now Into the great beyond!
