The pink mask, even in this chaotic light shines brilliantly forth like summer moonlight through a cold rain. As he wears the pink mask, his body relaxes and an overwhelming euphoria flows through him. He nearly sinks back into a pool behind him. Banging on the window awakens him. He now stands. The pool is his blood. The dark, viscous fluid has been falling from his veins like water dripping from a soaked towel. Quicker and quicker it flows, until his head is nearly submerged. He rips the mask off, but it clings to his face. He stumbles around the room, suffocated by the mask. In furious panic he smashes his head against the wall. The mask breaks in two, but it has left its mark as a scarred outline around the perimeter of his face. What he now sees in the clear white light of the room is a mask of gnarled red wood. Its wide smile, though now severed, still sips at the blood on the ground.
lyrics
[Elijah]
Mute sound at the sill.
A pool of my blood.
Falling from my veins.
Submerge me with you.
I tear at the mask
But it clings like a viper.
I smash my head against the wall,
Again and again till the cracks form.
The mask, it breaks in two. But it’s left
Scars on my face that I’ll never erase
In the light. The light…
I try to resist.
But what I miss is your kiss so remiss:
Emotionless.
