Walking further still, the Shambles give way to new creatures: long pairs of shadow-form legs attached to a semi-circle with eyes…like the lower half of human torso, rounded at the top and affixed to a pair of legs. They were multiplying, with somewhat smaller beings forming haphazardly and in awkward bursts out of pools of darkness like fish trying to escape quicksand. Elijah turns to Anita in fright, and notices a glint in her eye. He could swear it is the dancing cheer of Saiko. An embrace tightens around his neck. He is jerked backwards to the ground and pain shoots through his tailbone. The shadowy figure drags him by his key’s necklace, inching closer to a coagulated pool of darkness as Elijah struggles just to get air. He begins to fade out of consciousness as he sinks beneath the dark pool to the cheers of a chorus of shadowy figures.
lyrics
[Elijah]
Umbrella head, spooling darkness of form.
Laughing, mocking me.
Fish in quicksand, bees in a hive.
Multiply.
Your eyes shine
A boy inside, wandering child.
I’ll take my key, to remember me.
A clasp on my neck I cannot breathe.
They’re choking me.
I cannot breath.
